An ellipsis<\/strong> is a set of three dots<\/strong> (\u2026) used in writing.
It shows that words have been left out<\/strong>, a pause<\/strong>, or unfinished thought<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Is an Ellipsis Used Correctly?<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u2705 1. To Show Omission of Words<\/strong> (in quotes or sentences)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Used when some words are removed, but the meaning stays the same.
Example:<\/strong>
Original: “I love to read books every night before bed.”<\/em>
With ellipsis: “I love to read books \u2026 before bed.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t use ellipses in every line \u2014 it becomes confusing and weakens writing.
Avoid this:
