<strong>unknown variable is in the exponent<\/strong>.<br>Example: 2<sup>x<\/sup>=8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We solve such equations by making <strong>bases the same<\/strong> or by using <strong>logarithms<\/strong> (at higher levels).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table has-normal-font-size\"><table class=\"has-text-color has-link-color has-fixed-layout\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If both sides can be written with the same base, equate the exponents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example 1:<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">2<sup>x<\/sup>=8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Write 8 as 2<sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">2<sup>x<\/sup>=2<sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the bases
