Graph triangles and quadrilaterals
Key Notes:
An ordered pair (x,y) tells you the location of a point on the coordinate plane.
The x-coordinate tells you the horizontal position.
The y-coordinate tells you the vertical position.
Learn with an example
Graph the triangle with vertices (2,0), (7,3) and (2,8).
Graph the point (2,0). Start at (0, 0). Move 2 units right.
To draw one side of the triangle, graph the point (7,3).
To complete the triangle, graph the point (2,8).
Graph the triangle with vertices (8,3), (4,5) and (1,1).
Graph the point (8,3). Start at (0, 0). Move 8 units right and 3 units up.
To draw one side of the triangle, graph the point (4,5).
To complete the triangle, graph the point (1,1).
Graph the triangle with vertices (8,9), (10,3) and (2,3).
Graph the point (8,9). Start at (0, 0). Move 8 units right and 9 units up.
To draw one side of the triangle, graph the point (10,3).
To complete the triangle, graph the point (2,3).
